Wine In The Bible

Gen. 14:18-20 "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High.
And he blessed him and said:

'Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into
   your hand.'

And he gave him a tithe of all."
Lev. 23:13 "...and its drink offering shall be of wine, *one-fourth of a hin (1qt.)."
Num. 6:1-4 "Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: "When either a man or woman consecrates an offering to take the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the Lord, he shall separate himself from wine and similar drink; he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from similar drink; neither shall he drink any grape juice, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins. All the days of his *separation (Separation as a Nazirite) he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, from seed to skin." ' "
Est. 1:7 "And they served drinks in golden vessels, each vessel being different from the other, with royal wine in abundance, acccording to the generosity of the king."

And drink the wine of violence."

And whoever is led astray by it is not
   wise."
Prov. 23:19-21 "Hear, my son, and be wise;
And guide your heart in the way.
Do not mix with winebibbers,
Or with gluttonous eaters of meat;
For the drunkard and the glutton will
   come to poverty,
And drowsiness will clothe a man with
   rags."
Prov. 23:29-32 "Who has woe?
Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions?
Who has complaints?
Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes?
Those who linger long at the wine,
Those who go in search of mixed wine.
Do not look on the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup
When it swirls around smoothly;
At the last it bites like a serpent,
And stings like a viper."
Prov. 31:4-5 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
It is not for kings to drink wine,
Nor for princes intoxicating drink;
Lest they drink and forget the law,
And pervert the justice of all the
   afflicted."

   morning,
That they may *follow (pursue) intoxicating
   drink;
Who continue until night, till wine
   inflames them!"

Luke 5:37-38 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved."
Luke 10:30-34 "Then Jesus answered and said: 'A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.' "
Bible Note:My BCI defines this as D. Uses of, as; A Disinfectant for this verse.
John 2:1-10 "On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.' Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Whatever He says to you, do it.' Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, 'Fill the waterpots with water.' And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, 'Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.' And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, 'Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then that which is inferior; but you have kept the good wine until now.' "
1 Tim. 5:23 "No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent *infirmities (illnesses)."
