Do Not Put A Stumbling Block Before Your Brother

Luke 10:7-8

"And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you."

Rom. 14:13-17 "Therefore let us not judge one another *anymore, (any longer) but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way. I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."
1 Cor. 8:3-13 "But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him. Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is only one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse. But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a *stumbling block (cause of offense) to those who are weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble."
1 Cor. 10:25-28 "Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience' sake; for 'The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness.' If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience' sake. But if anyone says to you, 'This was offered to idols,' do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience' sake; for 'The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness.' "       (Psa. 24:1)
1 Tim. 4:4-5 "For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is *sanctified (set apart) by the word of God and prayer."
BibleNote: This is why I thank God for my food wherever I am, and ask Him to "purify it and sanctify it in Jesus' name", asking no questions as to where it is from, or how it was grown.
Rev. 2:14 "But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality."
BibleNote: In our day and culture there is yet another reason to thank God and ask Him to "purify and sanctify" our food. Harmful chemicals are used on the food in the process of growing it, and only God's blessing can protect us from its dangers. We had a contamination in our well, and God showed me He will protect me from it, but I would never test Him by putting myself into a situation where I could be accidentally sprayed by the chemicals.
