Gen. 15:5-6 |
"Then He brought him outside and said, 'Look now
toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.' And He said
to him, 'So shall your descendants be.' And he believed in the Lord, and He
accounted it to him for righteousness." |
Gen. 22:9-10 |
"Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took a knife to slay his son."
Note: Abraham not only believed God for a son in his old age, but he also was willing to give that son back to God as a sacrifice. Isaac also knew of the Lord God of his father Abraham as Scripture indicates no sign of a struggle. Isaac gave himself. A likeness of Jesus Christ who was to come? God truly blesses obedience.

Gen. 22:15-18 |
"Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a
second time out of heaven, and said: 'By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord,
because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only
son, in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your
descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the
seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your
seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My
voice.' " |
Jer. 33:22 |
"As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the
sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My
servant and the Levites who minister to Me." |
Heb. 11:11-12 |
"By faith Sarah herself also received strength to
conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she
judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good
as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude-innumerable as
the sand which is by the seashore." |
