Lev. 18:6-18 |
"None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin
to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the Lord." (vs. 6) The next verses command one
is not to uncover the nakedness of their father or mother; their father's wife;
the daughter of their father or mother; their son or daughter's daughter; their
father's wife's daughter, begotten by their father - she is your sister; your
father or mother's sister; your father's brother - you shall not approach his
wife - she is your aunt; your daughter-in-law - she is your son's wife; nor of
a woman and her daughter, or her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, to
uncover her nakedness. They are near of kin to her. It is wickedness. Nor shall
you take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while the
other is alive. (example Gen. 35:22 ) |
Lev. 20:14 |
"If a man marries a woman and her mother, it is
wickedness. They shall be burned with fire, both he and they, that there may be
no wickedness among you." |
Lev. 20:19-21 |
"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's
sister nor of your father's sister, for that would uncover his near of kin.
They shall bear their guilt. If a man lies with his uncle's wife, he has
uncovered his uncle's nakedness. They shall bear their sin; they shall die
childless. If a man takes his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing. He has
uncovered his brother's nakedness. They shall be childless." |
Deut. 27:22 |
" 'Cursed is the one who lies with his sister, the
daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.' And all the people shall
say, 'Amen!' " |
Heb. 13:8 |
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and
forever." |
Jas. 1:16-17 |
"Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and
every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
Note: Incest was a very
serious matter to God, and it still is!
