And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.' "
 Note: Back in the early 90's I shared with two Jehovah Witness girls that everything in this passage is true. They said the Bible says the gifts will fail. I asked "Where?" And they said 1 Cor. 13:8 is their basis. |

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another *Helper, (Comforter) that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

Note: I did not get to share with the ladies that when my daughter had a problem one day I laid my hand on her stomach and prayed to God "Father, let Your healing power flow through me, in Jesus' name." She felt warmth coming from my hand that spread around her abdomen, and in just a few minutes she got up and went to the bathroom. These other scriptures are added to the study for clarity. |

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Note: We have a choice to speak in our prayer language, thus giving the Holy Spirit opportunity to interceed for us. But, if the enemy can get us to believe tongues ceased we forfeit that gift. Then how will things work together for our good? |

Eli the priest thought she was drunk, but she said
"...No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not consider your maidservant a *wicked woman, (Lit. Daughter of Belial) for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now."
The Lord granted her petition and she brought her first born son, Samuel, back to Eli to serve the Lord all his life. |

"Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away."
Note: I told them there is no time limit on this. Satan deceives people into unbelief - tongues is a way to speak to God by way of the Holy Spirit - and the devil doesn't know what you are saying. |
