The Second Son

Gen. 2:7-8
(Adam)
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."
Bible Note: The first man was created out of the dust of the ground.
Gen. 4:25
(Seth)
"And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him *Seth, (Lit. Appointed) 'For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.'
Bible Note: Cain forfeited his right of the first-born when he killed Abel.

Gen. 15:4-6
(Abram)
"And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, '...one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.' Then He brought him outside and said, 'Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.' And He said to him, 'So shall your descendants be.' And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness."
Gen. 16:1-2 "Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidsrvant whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, 'See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall *obtain children by (Lit. be built up from) her.' And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai."
Gen. 16:15 "So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael."
Bible Note: This was the child of the flesh.
Gen. 17:4-5
(Abraham)
"As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of *many nations. (Lit. multitude of nations) No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations."
Gen. 17:15-16 "Then God said to Abraham, 'As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah (Lit. Princess) shall be her name. And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her."
Gen. 17:18-21 "And Abraham said to God, 'Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!' Then God said: 'No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.' "
Bible Note: Ishmael was blessed because of his father Abraham.
Gen. 21:1-3
(Isaac)
"And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him - whom Sarah bore to him - *Isaac." (Lit. Laughter)

Gen. 25:22-26
(Jacob)
"But the children struggled together within her, and she said, 'If all is well, why am I this way?' So she went to inquire of the Lord.
And the Lord said to her:

'Two nations are in your womb,
Two peoples shall be separated from
   your body;
One people shall be stronger than the
   other,
And the older shall serve the younger.'

So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name *Esau. (Lit. Hairy) Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; so his name was called *Jacob..." (Supplanter or Deceitful)

Gen. 32:28
(Israel)
"And He said, 'Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but *Israel; (Lit. Prince with God) for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed."
Gen. 38:27-30
(Perez)
"Now it came to pass, at the time for giving birth, that behold twins were in her womb. And so it was, when she was giving birth, that the one put out his hand; and the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand, saying 'This one came out first.' Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, 'How did you break through? This breach be upon you!' Therefore his name was called *Perez. (a breach) Afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand. And his name was called Zerah."

Gen. 48:13-19 Joseph brings his two sons to his father Israel (Jacob) and sets the elder (Manasseh) to Israel's right hand, but Israel switches his hands knowingly and puts the right hand on the younger. (Ephraim)
Gen. 48:20
(Ephraim)
"So he blessed them that day, saying 'By you Israel will bless saying, "May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!" ' And thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh."
Exod. 2:1-10
(Moses)
Moses' mother saved his life by puting him in an ark of bulrushes daubed with asphalt and pitch, and sending him down the river. Pharaoh's daughter found him and raised him, having his mother nurse him.
Exod. 7:7 "And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron (his brother) eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh."
Bible Note: Though Moses was a second son he is not in the lineage of Christ.
2 Sam. 11-12 David should have been out to battle, (vs. 11:1) but he stayed home, and when he saw Bathsheba bathing he had her brought to him, and lay with her. She conceived and sent word to him. When he called her husband from battle, and he would not go into her to cover the sin, David had him sent to a place where he would be killed in battle, and then he married her. God sent Nathan, the prophet, to David to convict him.
2 Sam. 12:13-14 "Then David said to Nathan, 'I have sinned against the Lord.' And Nathan said to David, 'The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. However...the child also who is born to you shall surely die.' "
See (Sons Died To Save Their Souls)
2 Sam. 12:24
(Solomon)
"Then David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and he called his name *Solomon. (Peacefull) And the Lord loved him."
1 Cor. 15:45-49
(Jesus)
"And so it is written, 'The first man Adam became a living being.' (Gen. 2:7) The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man."
Bible Note: And so we come back around to the Second Son.
