The Tree Of Life

Gen. 2:8-9 "The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."
Gen. 2:15-17 "Then the Lord God took *the man (Or Adam) and put him in the garden of Eden to *tend and keep (cultivate) it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.' "
11-25-90 poem: I looked out the window, and saw some trees
Blowing so gently in the breeze;
I saw their branches reach to the sky,
And then I wondered "Why, oh why

God did create this lovely view?"
"Till I realized it was man's too;
Given by God to care for and then
Over the earth He gave dominion.

Man was to watch out for all of God's things,
Creeping, swimming, walking, or with wings;
How could we see such a wondrous sight,
And not want to help with all of our might?

To keep it all fresh, and running so pure
Until the Lord comes to claim it once more;
All things made new by One so Devine
Replenished forever 'till the end of time.
Gen. 3:22-24 "Then the Lord God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever' - therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life."
Bible Note: I remember, as a babe in the Lord, I called my friend and asked her why God would block the access to the tree of life when He told the man not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil? She said "So they wouldn't live forever." That was what God meant when He said they would "...surely die."
Heb. 9:1-5 "Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary. For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the *sanctuary; (holy place Lit. holies) and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, which had the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail."
Heb. 9:11 "But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is not of this creation."

Heb. 9:24 "For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us."
Rev. 7:9 "After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands."
Rev. 7:14-17 "...'These are the ones who come out of the great tribulatin, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.' "
Rev. 21:1-4 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.' "
Rev. 22:1-2 "And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
Bible Note: There are two mentions of the tree of life in the Bible. One is in Genesis where man was put in the garden of Eden to tend it. When man fell to sin he was driven out of the garden and the tree of life was guarded by a flaming sword. Then, in Revelation, we see it again, but this time it is bearing 12 fruits that yield its fruit every month, and the leaves are "for the healing of the nations." How could it be that a place that has no death, sorrow, crying, or pain could need leaves to heal? I believe the first tree of life would indeed have allowed Adam and the woman to live forever. But when they disobeyed God, Adam had to till the ground that had freely yielded food for them before. Here we use food to maintain our earthly bodies. In heaven we will have new incorruptible bodies. It could be we will eat the fruit for pleasure, and perhaps the leaves will be used to heal those who come out of the tribulation.
