Prov. 15:1
|
"A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger." Note: I had occasion to see life brought to this verse when I was burning something I felt was not pleasing to God one day and my hostile neighbors asked me to put out the fire because the smoke was going in their greenhouse and "bugging them." I gently said "I'm sorry. I wouldn't deliberately do anything to hurt you." And put out the fire. They had beeped their horns continually for a quarter of a mile past my house for months, but on this day the horn blowing stopped! I praised God with tears of joy - for peace at last. |
Prov. 25:11 | "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver." See (Pursue Peace - As Much As Depends On You) |
Matt. 5:43-45 | "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." |
Rom. 12:18-21 | "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live
peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give
place to wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord. 'Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him; If he thirsts, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.' (Prov. 25:21-22) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." See (Have You Done Wrong? - Make It Right!) |
