Lot Chose His Path

Gen. 13:10-13 "And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord."
Gen. 14:12-16 "They also took Lot, Abram's brother's son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed...Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan...So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people."
Gen. 19:1-38 Two angels came down to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot urged the angels to come to his house, but wicked men came to get them. The angels struck the men with blindness. When Lot tried to warn his sons-in-law they thought he was joking. (vs.14) He, his wife and two daughters were brought out of the city by the angels. His wife turned to a pillar of salt when she looked back behind him. The Lord rained brimstone and fire on the cities. Lot and his daughters dwelt in a cave in the mountains out of fear. His daughters got him drunk and lie with him to preserve his lineage since they thought no man would come into them.

BibleNote: I imagine the people were terrified of the only survivors of this disaster. What a price to pay for choosing to live in an area filled with darkness.
2 Pet. 2:6-8 "and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed with the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)."
