Under The Shadow of God’s Wings

Exod. 25:20 "And the cherubim shall stretch out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and they shall face one another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat."
Bible Note: This is an interesting picture of the inside of the tabernacle with the faces of the cherubim toward the mercy seat, perhaps focusing us on His mercy towards those who seek him. Read on.
Ruth 2:8-12 "Then Boaz said to Ruth, 'You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women. Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.' Then she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, 'Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?' And Boaz answered and said to her, 'It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before. The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.' "
Bible Note: I can’t think of a better Biblical example of being under God’s wings.
Psa. 17:8-9

"Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
Hide me under the shadow of Your
   wings,
From the wicked who oppress me,
From my deadly enemies who surround
   me."

Psa. 36:7-9 "How precious is Your loving kindness, O
   God!
Therefore the children of men put their
   trust under the shadow of Your
   wings.
They are abundantly satisfied with the
   fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the
   river of Your pleasures.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.”
Psa. 57:1-3 "Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to
   me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will
   make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
I will cry out to God Most High
To God who performs all things for
   me.
He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who would
   swallow me up. Selah
God shall send forth His mercy and His
   truth.”
Psa. 61:1-4 "Hear my cry O God:
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to
   You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher
   than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
And a strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.
   Selah"
Psa. 63:6-8 "When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings
   I will rejoice.
My soul follows close behind You;
Your right hand upholds me."
Psa. 91:1-8 "He who dwells in the secret place of the
   Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the
   Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge
   and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.'
Surely He shall deliver you from the
   snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take
   refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and
   buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by
   night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in
   darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste
   at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked."
Psa. 91:14-16 "Because he has set his love upon Me,
   therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has
   known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will
   answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My Salvation."
Mal. 4:2 "But to you who fear My name,
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves."
Matt. 23:37

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!"

BibleNote: Jesus uses a common illustration to help the people realize how much He loves them. However, let us guard ourselves from criticizing Him and His people. If they had known the time of their visitation;  (Luke 19:42-44) no one else in the world would have access to the Father in Heaven.
