The Tongue - Brings Life - Or Death

Psa. 34:13 "Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking guile."
Psa. 15:4 "A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit."
Prov. 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the
   tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit."
Matt. 12:36-37

"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

1-22-90 poem: He guides my words each and every day,
The words I write, and the words I say;
I never have to think if I will do harm
Leaning on Christ's everlasting charm.

If I can't speak nice I hold my tongue
Because His Spirit gives strength to one;
The promise I'll receive from my Lord up above
Enduring daily for God's never ending love.

So I'm sure to speak with a loving voice,
Knowing Jesus Christ is my only choice!
But if I should slip, and perhaps I fall,
Confessing to Christ will restore my all.
Eph. 6:18-20 "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."

Jas. 1:26 "If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless."

Jas. 3:1-12 "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a *perfect (mature) man, able also to bridle the whole body. Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of *iniquity. (unrighteousness) The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of *nature; (existence) and it is set on fire by *hell. (Gr. Gehenna) For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the *similitude (likeness) of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought no to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring can yield both salt water and fresh."
2-5-90 poem: Help me out Lord, tell me what to do
To spread Your Word around for You;
So I can sound off over all the earth,
Witnessing about my own rebirth.

I want to teach that the words we use
Are so important, if we speak wrong we lose;
Adam had dominion over all in God's name,
He gave it to Satan to man's eternal shame.

Then God sent You, Lord, to die for our sin,
A glorious prize, our souls You did win!
But Satan could trick man by use of a thought,
When we said wrong words, our authority he got.

Until I realized God created all
By use of his Words, I could only fall;
The words I said filled my life with woe
When I said bad words Satan made them so.

Then I began to learn what is true
God's Words spoken bring power from You!
You spilled Your blood so I need not fear,
My life is renewed by Your Holy Spirit.

It lives within me, and teaches me wisdom
To live in Your love, containing Your kingdom;
Thank You, Lord, Your name, Jesus Christ;
Controls the events throughout my life.

To cast out demons and cure my pains,
To rebuke lightening, and quiet rains;
I know I do nothing of my own mind
Without Your name, Lord, to Satan I'll bind.

To deceive myself into thinking the source
Is not the Name Jesus is ludicrous of course;
It is Your will I must strive to release
To assure my life will remain at peace.
