Luke 10:29-37 | "But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?' Then Jesus answered and said: 'A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among *thieves, (robbers) who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out *two denarii, (2 days wages) gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.' So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?' And he said, 'He who showed mercy on him.' Then Jesus said to him, 'Go and do likewise.' " |

While in Israel, the tour guide showed us the "Actual
Good Samaritin Inn." I said, "I thought that was a parable?" She confirmed
it was the actual Inn. I was stunned as I realized when Jesus said "A certain
man" He was giving an example of an event they all knew of. ![]() It made me look at the following scripture with new eyes as well. |
Luke 16:19-31 | "There was a certain rich man who was clothed in
purple and fine linen and *fared sumptuously (lived in luxury)
every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was
laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich
man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the
beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man
also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes
and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said,
'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of
his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But
Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good
things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are
tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf
fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those
from there pass to us.' Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you
would send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, that he may
testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' Abraham said to
him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' And he said, 'No
father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' But
he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they
be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' " See (We Should Share With The Poor, and Where Is Abraham's Bosom?) ![]() |
Heb. 9:27-28 | "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation." ![]() See (The Resurrection - What About It?, and God Tests Our Hearts And Minds) |
